2003: Samuels started 13 games at his familiar left tackle position, missing three games to a knee injury.

  • He logged another solid season despite battling injury, earning a third alternate bid to the Pro Bowl.

2002: Samuels battled through nagging injuries during the 2002 season, to start 15 games at left tackle and earned his second consecutive trip to the Pro Bowl in Honolulu.

  • His teammates and coaches voted him as the 2002 Ed Block Courage Award winner, annually given to a player from each NFL team that exemplifies commitment to the principles of sportsmanship and courage.
  • Samuels once again formed one of the most formidable tackle tandems in the NFL with partner Jon Jansen, and protected the Redskins quarterbacks with another solid season.

2001: Samuels was voted to the NFC Pro Bowl after an outstanding sophomore season. He started all 16 games in 2001 and showed great leadership on and off the playing field.

  • He earned game balls, along with the rest of the offensive line, for two games in 2001: vs. Seattle (11/4/01) and at New Orleans (12/30/01).
  • He was featured in the December 3, 2001 issue of Sports Illustrated along with running back Stephen Davis after becoming the first team in NFL history to lose its first five games, then go on to win its next five games.
