Ken Harvey
Career Highlights
Ken Harvey played professional football for 11 years, concluding his career with the Washington Redskins. As a four-time Pro Bowler, Ken became the first Redskin to lead the NFC in sacks and only the fourth linebacker in NFC history to lead the conference in sacks, joining the legendary Lawrence “L.T.” Taylor. He set a Redskins record for most sacks in a season by a linebacker, which broke Monte Coleman’s record set in 1984, and had 89 career sacks–an average of 8.6 sacks per year--during his career.
Ken Harvey was selected
in the 1st round of 1988 draft (12th overall) by Arizona. The Redskins
acquired him in 1994 as an unrestricted free
agent, playing the position of linebacker. Ken led the NFC and finished
second in the NFL with a career-high 13.5 sacks. He produced nine sacks
in the final 10 games of the season and led the Redskins with 20 quarterback
hurries.
He now writes children’s books and produces children’s
programming. He and his wife Janice have two sons.
